If you weren’t aware, it was hot in Indianapolis this past weekend. Temperatures hit the 90s (I know this both from the fourteen thousand times they mentioned it during the race coverage and from working on my COVID-19 Project of rebuilding my screen porch). That was a big concern going into this race. Additionally, there … Continue reading GMR Review: Good, Bad, Ugly,…and the Heat
Moment of honesty? I spent practice, qualification, and the race texting with Abby and Juliana (our driver analyst). We were all nervous going into the race. Texas Motor Speedway is not for the faint of heart, and there was one practice before qualifications and then right into the race. I’m pleased the nagging dread we … Continue reading Bump Up the Grip (Texas Review)
I am excited there is racing. Well…”racing” because it’s not the same atmosphere as being at a live event, and not the same atmosphere as even watching it on television. Some of that may be due to social distancing (tend to watch races I’m not at in a group), but I think a lot of … Continue reading iRacing Watkins Glen
It’s the race that’s twice around the clock (well the one in the United States). Pushing both man and machine to the absolute limit. One of the greatest things about experiencing the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, is hearing that if you get to that last hour it just takes one small action to ruin … Continue reading Rolex 24 Hours: Great Weather (2020)
A great race capping off a great weekend of both on and off track activity.
It’s hard to write about another race while in the midst of Indy-pression (though, this year I’m not as depressed because I’m looking forward to a lot more races in person). But unlike the drivers, I too can’t take a weekend off and so onward to the Motor City, the Dual in Detroit, Penske’s Playground, … Continue reading Detroit – Land of Rock n’ Surprises (Detroit Grand Prix 2019)
It was a weekend to remember. We saw the spirit of Indy start in qualifications weekend and end with one of the most perfect drivers becoming the 2019 Indianapolis 500 champion.
Long Beach, a temporary street circuit on the shores of the Pacific Ocean. It’s one of the most celebrated races on the current schedule. Besides being beautifully located on the water, the track offers two strong areas of passing (T1 and T9). Areas of tight turns (the Fountain Turn and T11). As well as a … Continue reading Just Crusin’ (Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach)
I cannot even begin to write about the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama without thinking “last year was weird”. The Grand-Pee (which I will never find not-funny) got red flagged over a spring storm, only to resume twenty-four hours later. It’s a beautiful facility and 2019 is my first year at the facility. Fourteen … Continue reading Trees and Gravel (Honda Indy Grand Prix)
At the end of the day – the weekend belongs to young Colton Herta. The rookie took the race. He made a climb through the field, battling with the more senior drivers.
