News

NASCAR put out their 2020 Schedule. They moved the Brickyard 400 to July 4th weekend. Everyone can enjoy the heat of Indiana in July. Or the monsoons. Summer here is a crap shoot.

Because we just haven’t had the time, we discuss the controversy surrounding the balloon release during the 500. Sure, Molly loves the release and has actual nostalgia attached to it – but we’re both in agreement. If it’s hurting the environment, it’s okay to drop it. It’s not the most important part of pre-race ceremony.

Woman of the Week Melanie Snow

In her early career, Melanie won her class during the 1999 12 Hours of Sebring. That was one of two times she and her husband have won the 12 Hours of Sebring (the other time was in 2009). She’s been Porsche’s sole woman race car driver. She met her husband at a track, and the two created Snow Racing for their family.

She took a break from racing when her children were small. In 2008, she came in second in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge. She won the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge in 2009, and the ALMS (American Le Mans Series) GTC Class (a class specifically for Porsche 911 GT3) Championship in 2009. She took a year off in 2010 but returned to the sport in 2011 joined by her son. A unique experience in 2011 was when Snow joined Andrea Robertson for the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge driving a Ford GT. The car finished the race, the team coming in twenty-ninth overall.

Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama

Barber Motorsports Park a seventeen turn permanent road course that is 2.38 miles in total length. INDYCAR first raced here in 2010. Penske holds the records for most Team Wins (6) and Josef Newgarden holds the record for most driver wins (3).

This year we’re looking for some wild action on track. Rosenqvist is gonna come out swinging. Will Colton had a successful follow up to his first win?
